KEEPIN' THE MOMENTUM: Miami's women's cross country team is hoping for another great effort in the NCAA Regional Championships after being edged out at the Mid-American Conference Championships for third place. The RedHawks are rated ninth in the Great Lakes Region and need to move past a few of the regional teams at the NCAA Regional Championships in West Lafayette, Ind on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. to qualify for the NCAA Championships.

Two of Miami's runners have qualified for the NCAA Championship race in the past three years. Andrea Kremer, last year, and Kristen Fryburg, three years ago, turned in 11th place finishes at the NCAA Regional for head coach Rich Ceronie.

SCOUTING THE COMPETITION: The Great Lakes NCAA regional consists of 32 teams vying for two automatic team bids to the NCAA Championships. Nine NCAA regional races will be run on Saturday with each receiving two automatic team bids and 13 national at-large team bids will be given out amongst the nine regions. Since the Great Lakes Region is strong just like the men's race, Ceronie said there is a possibility three or four more at-large bids might be awarded to the Great Lakes Region. Beyond the team competition, the top four individuals whose teams did not qualify for the NCAA Championship will get a bid to the Championship. Kremer and Fryburg both used that method to earn NCAA Championship bids in the past.

Teams included in the 11:00 a.m. race are: Akron, Ball State, Bowling Green, Butler, Central Michigan, Cincinnati, Cleveland State, Dayton, Detroit Mercy, Eastern Michigan, Evansville, Indiana, Indiana State, IPFW, IUPUI, Kent State, Marquette, Miami, Michigan, Michigan State, Notre Dame, Oakland, Ohio State, Purdue, Toledo, Valparaiso, Western Michigan, Wisconsin, Wisconsin-Green Bay, Wisconsin-Milwaukee, Wright State, Xavier, and Youngstown State.
