Coming off an eighth-place finish at the conference meet, the Miami University women's cross country team travels to the Great Lakes Regional Championship Saturday, Nov. 11 in Bowling Green, Ohio. Led by second-team all-MAC honoree Jennie Stoll, Miami faces a talented field that includes three teams ranked in the top 11 nationally. The women's 6K race kicks off at 11 a.m. at the Mel Brodt Cross Country Course.

LAST TIME OUT--MAC CHAMPIONSHIP (OCT. 28): Junior Jennie Stoll finished 11th overall and Miami placed three runners in the top 35 as it finished eighth at the 2006 Mid-American Conference Cross Country Championship. On a rainy and muddy 5K course at Beaver Island State Park, Stoll finished in the MAC's top 12 for the second straight season, turning in an 11th-place time of 21:08. Battling through temperatures in the low 40's and steady winds of 20-30 mph, Stoll placed 66 seconds behind race winner Carime Reinhart of Ohio (20:02). Junior Mia Fiegelist and sophomore Erin McGowan joined Stoll in the meet's top 35 finishers, as they placed 32nd and 34th, respectively.

AND THE AWARD GOES TO: As Miami's lone all-MAC honoree, junior Jennie Stoll earned second-team all-MAC honors for the second straight season by placing 11th at the MAC Championship (Oct. 28). Stoll also finished ninth last season on her way to earning all-MAC status, and in her three seasons in Oxford, she has finished among the top 20 finishers in the conference each season. Miami has placed at least one runner on the all-MAC squad in each of the past nine seasons, with Stoll representing the 30th all-MAC honoree in program history.

AND THE AWARD GOES TO (PART II): Miami placed two athletes on the academic all-MAC team as juniors Jennie Stoll and Sarah Henize were tabbed as part of the 23-member team. Stoll, an early childhood education major with a 3.66 grade-point average, finished in Miami's scoring five at all six meets, including a pair of top-five overall finishes in the season's first two meets. Stoll additionally was the top Miami finisher in three of the RedHawks' six races. Henize, a zoology major with a 3.63 grade-point average, finished in the scoring five at four of Miami's six meets and posted back-to-back top-six finishes at the season's first two meets. Henize also was the only Miamian to take home MAC Runner of the Week honors (Sept. 12), a distinction she earned after taking home the individual title at the Miami Invitational. It was the second straight academic all-MAC honor for Stoll and the first of Henize's career.

FLASHBACK TO LAST SEASON--GREAT LAKES REGIONAL: At last season's Great Lakes Regional Championship, Jennie Stoll was the top Miamian in 55th place as Miami finished 13th out of 32 teams. Stoll tallied her seventh straight top team finish as she clocked in at 22:42, and she was one of three second-year runners to place in the meet's top 75. Sarah Henize and Carol Eckerly joined Stoll in the top 75, as Henize finished 60th (22:51) and Eckerly placed 74th (23:05).

REDHAWK QUICK FACTS: Twelve of the 16 members of Miami's cross country team hail from the Buckeye State, with its other four members coming from Illinois (2), Indiana (1) and Wisconsin (1) ... Miami has placed among the top five schools in the MAC in four of the past six seasons, including a third-place finish in 2002 ... Since the program's inception, Miami has finished among the top four at the MAC meet 13 times, including runner-up finishes in 1993, 1994 and 1999.

MORE HARDWARE THAN HOME DEPOT: Miami had one runner individually recognized by the Mid-American Conference this season, as junior Sarah Henize was tabbed as the MAC Runner of the Week (Sept. 12) following her first-place finish at the Miami Invitational. Clocking in with a top time of 18:54, Henize won her first career individual title and posted her fourth career top-five finish. The runner of the week award was the first of Henize's career, and she was the first Miamian to win the award since Jennie Stoll on Sept. 21, 2004.
