OXFORD, Ohio -- Fresh of the first Mid-American Conference Cross Country Championship in school history, the Miami University Women's Cross Country team is starting to gain national recognition. The RedHawks picked up five points Tuesday in the weekly U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Association's (USTFCCA) national poll to rank 35th overall.
In the latest Great Lakes Regional poll, released Monday, Miami climbed two notches to fourth. The RedHawks leapfrogged Notre Dame and Indiana after their title this weekend, but still trail Wisconsin, Michigan State and Michigan. The Badgers and Spartans are in the National Top 10 at eighth and 10th, respectively, while the Wolverines ranks 17th.
Miami continues its season Nov. 15 when it competes in the NCAA Great Lakes Regional at Purdue University in West Lafayette, Ind.
