CLEVELAND - Following an eighth-place finish at the Mid-American Conference Cross Country Championship, Miami University placed juniors Jennie Stoll (Pewaukee, Wis.) and Sarah Henize (Bucyrus, Ohio) on the academic all-MAC team, as the conference office announced the 23-member team today (Nov. 1). It is the second academic all-MAC honor of Stoll's career and the first in Henize's three seasons with the Red and White.

Stoll, an early childhood education major with a 3.66 grade-point average, was the top Miamian at the conference meet (Oct. 28), placing 11th in 21:08 and earning all-MAC second team accolades. It was the second straight season Stoll placed in the conference's top 12, and she became the 30th all-conference honoree in program history.

During the 2006 season, Stoll finished in Miami's scoring five at all six meets, finishing no lower than third on the team. She placed in the top five overall at each of the season's first two meets, including a fourth-place finish at the Flyer 5K Challenge (Sept. 2) and a runner-up showing at the Miami Invitational (Sept. 9). Stoll additionally was the top Miami finisher in three of the RedHawks' six races.

Henize, a zoology major with a 3.63 grade-point average, turned in a successful third year in Oxford, as she finished in the scoring five at four of Miami's six meets. Henize posted back-to-back top-six finishes at the season's first two meets, including a first-place finish at the Miami Invitational. Henize also was the only Miamian to earn MAC Runner of the Week honors (Sept. 12), a distinction she earned after taking home the individual title at the Miami Invitational.

All 12 schools placed athletes on the all-MAC academic team, paced by Central Michigan with a league-best five honorees. Bowling Green had three athletes recognized, while Buffalo, Miami, Northern Illinois, Ohio and Western Michigan each put two athletes on the academic all-conference squad. Akron, Ball State, Eastern Michigan, Kent State and Toledo all finished with one honoree.

The all-MAC academic team is voted on by the faculty athletic representatives at the conference schools, and the honor is designated for student-athletes who excel in both athletics and academics. To qualify for the award, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative GPA and have participated in at least 50 percent of the team's contests. First-year students and junior college transfers in their first year of residence are not eligible.
