MOVIN' ON UP: The NCAA women's cross country ranking for the Great Lakes Region came out this week and found the RedHawks rated seventh. Miami will compete in the prestigious Roy Griak Invitational which is hosted by the University of Minnesota on Saturday. The Red and White placed 20th out of 32 teams last year while Andrea Kremer led the RedHawks with a 14th-place finish.

SCOUTING THE OPPOSITION: The 17th annual running of the Roy Griak Invitational, hosted by the University of Minnesota on Saturday, includes seven ranked cross country teams. The invitational fields four teams who placed in the top five last year; Arizona State, (first) Providence, (second) Arizona, (third) and Michigan State (fifth).

The Women's Gold Race has 22 entries: Arizona, Arizona State, Ball State, Cleveland State, Georgia, Indiana, Indiana-Purdue Fort Wayne, Iowa State, Kansas State, Marquette, Miami, Michigan State, Minnesota, Missouri-Kansas City, Nebraska, Northwestern, Oregon, Providence, Toledo, Utah, Washington State and Weber State.

PAST RESULTS: On Sept. 7th, Kremer won her second consecutive Miami Invitational by almost 30 seconds with junior Kristen Fryburg and freshman Katy Pryor rounding out the top three spots of the race. Junior Kylee Studer and sophomore Sarah Bertolini completed the race in the top-ten by finishing sixth and tenth, respectively The RedHawks won their ninth Miami Invitational in the 18-year history.

In their second meet, the Miami women's cross country team won its second consecutive Miami Fall Classic on Saturday at the 5,000-meter race. Kremer led the RedHawks with a second-place finish in a time of 17:28.80. Kremer was followed by Fryburg, Pryor, and Studer to give the RedHawks the second, third, fourth, and fifth place finishers.

RECORD BUSTERS: After the impressive showing by Kremer and Fryburg at the Miami Fall Classic, Kremer ranks ninth on the Western Campus Course all-time chart as the fastest RedHawk in the history of the course. Fryburg ran her second-best time at home on Saturday and finished with the 40th best time in Western Campus Course history and fifth best all-time performance for juniors.

Freshmen Pryor and Kelly Ardelean set freshmen records as well in the Miami Fall Classic. Pryor's time of 18:10.40 at the Miami Invitational was the third best performance for a freshman at the Western Campus Course and Ardelean's time of 18:34.21 was good enough for ninth place on the freshman list.

Studer is now tenth on the all-time list for juniors when she finished the Miami Fall Classic in 18:20.65. Bertolini's time of 18:32.45 was the eighth fastest time for sophomores on the course.
