OXFORD, Ohio - Miami's women's cross country team has been recognized by the Women's Intercollegiate Cross Country Coaches Association for its academic performance, receiving WICCCA Academic All-America First Team status.

The RedHawks carry a cumulative GPA of 3.35, making them one of 75 women's teams to earn First Team honors. Of the 331 Division I women's cross country squads, 28 more earned honorable mention. Teams needed a 3.25 average for First Team recognition and a 3.0 average for an honorable mention. The team has been recognized in all 11 years that WICCCA has honored teams for their academic performance.

Miami finished sixth at the Mid-American Conference Championships at the end of October and placed 12th at the NCAA Great Lakes Regional in its final meet of 2004.
