Miami's women's cross country head coach Richard Ceronie watched his runners barely fall short at the Mid-American Conference championships on the Western Campus Course in Oxford, Ohio on Saturday afternoon.
The RedHawk team was edged out for the MAC Championship runner-up, 63-62 by Ball State while Toledo defended their title by scoring 51 points.
Despite the narrow margin loss, the Red and White earned many awards on the chilly Saturday afternoon.
Andrea Kremer (Indianapolis, IN/Bishop Chatard) earned first-team all-MAC with a fourth-place finish in a time of 17:37.70. With the junior's most recent finish, Kremer has earned all-MAC accolades for cross country all three years at Miami.
Redshirt junior Kristen Fryburg (Dayton, OH/Kettering Alter) also received her third all-MAC honor after finishing ninth for the Red and White. Fryburg's time of 18:02.90 earned her second-team all-MAC.
Freshman Katy Pryor (New Castle, IN/New Castle) and redshirt junior Kylee Studer (Edgerton, Ohio/Edgerton) earned their first all-MAC honors by finishing behind Fryburg. Pryor was the 10th MAC runner to cross the finish line while Studer placed 11th. Pryor's time 18:08.50 and Studer's time of 18:10.90 were both personal records, which put them on the all-MAC second-team.
Sophomore Sarah Bertolini (Canton, OH/St. Thomas Aquinas) was the fifth Miami runner to cross the finish line. Bertolini ran a personal best time of 18:34.00, which placed her 29th overall.
Toledo won their second consecutive MAC team crown. Their top runner, Brianna Shook followed suit by earning her second straight MAC individual title with a time of 17:03.60, which was the third fastest time in Western Campus Course history.
