South Bend, Ind. - Miami University's women's cross country team came in fifth out of 17 teams Friday at the 5,000-meter Notre Dame Invitational at Notre Dame Golf Course in South Bend, Ind.

Sophomore Andrea Kremer (Indianapolis, Ind./Bishop Chatard) continued a string of impressive finishes as she claimed runner-up at the meet in a time of 17:26, lowering her previous best 5,000-meter clocking by 11 seconds. She trailed the race's winner, Fighting Irish freshman Lauren King, by just six seconds. It is the fifth top-five finish of Kremer's career and her seventh top 10.

Redshirt sophomore Kristen Fryburg (Dayton, Ohio/Kettering Alter) also ran well, taking sixth in 17:37 for her third top 10 finish this season. Senior Liz Lundgren (Centerville, Ohio/Centerville) toured the course in 17:57 to come in 14th. Freshman Meredith Magsig (Elmore, Ohio/Woodmore) and sophomore Kate Steffen (Roselle, Ill./Lake Park) rounded out Miami's scorers, placing 56th (18:46) and 73rd (18:53), respectively.

Right on Steffen's heels in 76th was freshman Sarah Bertolini (Louisville, Ohio/St. Thomas Aquinas), who finished in 18:56. The final three RedHawk runners were sophomores Kristin Wrede (Lake Forest, Ill./Lake Forest), Jenny Korrison (Glen Ellyn, Ill./Glenbard West) and Kylee Studer (Edgerton, Ohio/Edgerton), who came in 87th (19:06), 108th (19:35) and 111th (19:39), respectively.

Against Mid-American Conference competition, Ball State University squeaked past Miami, 144-148, while the RedHawks finished well ahead of Western Michigan University (262) and Eastern Michigan University (365).
