SOUTH BEND, Ind. - Facing a 24-team field in which half the entrants were nationally ranked by the FinishLynx/WICCCA National Poll, the Miami University women's cross country team finished in 23rd place at the Notre Dame Invitational on Friday afternoon. Sophomore Jennie Stoll (Pewaukee, Wis./Pewaukee) was the RedHawks top finisher as she posted a 68th-place finish (67th in terms of scoring finish), completing the 5K course in 18:06.

Stoll was the first Miami runner across the finish line for the third-consecutive race this season, and behind her, the next closest RedHawk was sophomore Sarah Henize (Bucyrus, Ohio/Bucyrus), who finished in 107th place (18:37) in terms of scoring and 110th overall. After Henize, sophomore Carol Eckerly (Beavercreek, Ohio) and Kristen Proach (Canton, Ohio/St. Thomas Aquinas) finished 126th (18:48--131st overall) and 142nd (19:06--152nd overall), respectively, in terms of a scoring finish.

The Michigan Wolverines (77 points), Illinois Fighting Illini (82) and Notre Dame Fighting Irish (91) were the top three finishers at the meet, while Miami (594) finished just behind the 22nd-place Florida Gators (560). The Akron Zips--who finished in 18th place (512)--were the only other Mid-American Conference school at the Notre Dame Invitational.

Miami's next race is slated for Oct. 15 when it heads to the Pre-NCAA Invitational in Terre Haute, Ind., on the campus of Indiana State.
