KETTERING, Ohio. - In its season-opening meet, the Miami University women's cross country team took home a third-place finish at the Flyer 5K Challenge as sophomore Sarah Henize (Bucyrus, Ohio/Bucyrus) finished second overall and was the RedHawks' top finisher.

Henize paced Miami with a time of 19:04, and behind her, two other RedHawks, sophomore Carol Eckerly (Beavercreek, Ohio/Beavercreek) and senior Kristen Proach (Canton, Ohio/St. Thomas Aquinas) finished among the top 15 runners. Eckerly and Proach finished 12th (19:37) and 15th (19:42), respectively.

Sophomores Tricia Frisella (St. Louis, Mo./Visitation Academy), who placed 17th (19:53), and Mia Fiegelist (Hilliard, Ohio/Davidson), who placed 18th (19:57), were the other top-20 finishers for Miami.

The University of Cincinnati (39 points) won the team title, with the University of Dayton (46 points) and Miami (64 points) rounding out the top three.

The RedHawks next race will be their only home meet of the season as they host the Miami Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 10.
