OXFORD, Ohio--Miami University junior middle hitter Carli Reihman (Cincinnati, Ohio/Ursuline Academy) has been named to the Mid-American Conference Volleyball All-Academic Team, the conference office announced Friday evening.
Reihman, who is a three-time All-MAC selection, earning second-team accolades this season, earned her first spot on the Academic All-MAC Team. She owns a 3.50 grade-point average and majors in exercise science with a concentration in pre-medicine.
Reihman became just the second player in program history to amass 1,000 career kills by the end of her junior season, surpassing the plateau against Fairfield in the next to last match of the 2006 season. She is one of just 15 players to record 1,000 career kills. Entering her senior season, she ranks sixth on Miami's career hitting percentage list (.295) and is averaging 3.01 kills per game for her career, which ranks ninth at Miami.
Additionally, Reihman was named to all five regular-season all-tournament teams this season, extending her string of all-tournament team honors to eight straight tournaments over the past two seasons. She earned the conference's first East Division Player of the Week award this season on Aug. 28.
Twenty-three student-athletes were recognized on the 2006 Volleyball Academic All-MAC Team. The Academic All-MAC honor is for student-athletes who have excelled in athletics and academics. To qualify, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 GPA and have participated in at least 50 percent of the contests for that particular sport. First-year students and junior college transfers in their first year of residence are not eligible for the award.
