OXFORD, Ohio - Miami volleyball received national letters of intent from middle hitters Cassie Farrell (Columbus, Ohio/Bishop Watterson) and Jenn Caylor (Dayton, Ohio/Centerville), head coach Carolyn Condit announced today (Nov. 14).

Farrell was a first-team all-district and a first-team all-state selection as a senior, which qualifies her to be the district representative for the all-Ohio all-star match and the Central District all-star match. She led the Bishop Watterson Eagles to the Central Catholic League Conference Championship this season, earning first-team all-conference accolades, and led the Eagles in blocks and kills. The Eagles also won the district title and they were a regional finalist before losing to eventual state champion, Mother of Mercy. Farrell was a member of the R.C. volleyball club team and a member of the National Honor Society at Bishop Watterson.

"Cassie was the driving force in helping her high school team to their best season ever," Condit said. "She is an explosive hitter with great ball control and competes like she truly loves the game. She will have a superb career as a Miami RedHawk."

Caylor earned second-team all-state accolades this season, which also qualifies her to play in the Ohio all-star match next week. After being selected as the conference player of the year in the Greater Western Ohio Conference, Caylor was also named Player of the Year in District 15. Caylor was a middle hitter on the Team `Z' 17 club team that won the USA National Title in July of 2007. She led her Centerville High School team in blocks and kills this season and received the Scholar Athlete Award at her high school sports banquet last week. Like Farrell, Caylor is also a member of the National Honor Society.

"Jenn is a true student of the game, who has the power and athleticism to impact our 2008 line-up," Condit said. "She has competed against many top players in the country, and this experience, combined with her competitive drive, is what we look for when signing top prospects."
