OXFORD, Ohio - Miami University's volleyball program had two individuals sign national letters-of-intent to join the squad for the 2002 season, head coach Carolyn Condit announced today with the signing of Megan Clark (Solon, Ohio/Solon) and Natalie Kapteyn (Grand Rapids, Mich./East Kentwood).

"Both Megan and Natalie come from championship high school programs which have experienced great success, and have each enjoyed individual success along the way," says Condit. "They will be outstanding additions to our program, and will help us continue to be a top program in the Mid-American Conference."

Clark, a 5-foot-9 setter/outside hitter, is a two-time all-state honoree, earning first-team distinction as a senior. A four-year letterwinner and two-time captain for Solon, Clark helped the Comets to four league, sectional and district championships. During her senior campaign, she was named Western Reserve Conference Most Valuable Player and the MVP of District 1. As a junior, she led Solon to a 23-3 mark, a regional title and No. 3 ranking in the state of Ohio. The Comets also were ranked among the top 50 nationally by FoxSports.com. Clark is a three-time all-conference selection, including two stints on the first team, and a two-time first-team all-district selection. Her sister, Mindy, was a three-year letterwinner in volleyball at Miami from 1998-00.

Kapteyn, a 6-foot-0 middle hitter, helped East Kentwood to the Class A state crown as a sophomore and a district championship as a junior. Also during her junior campaign, she garnered all-conference and all-area accolades. Entering this season, Kapteyn is a three-year letterwinner for the Falcons. She will complete her final stint in East Kentwood's volleyball program this winter, captaining the team. During her prep career, she has earned two letters in basketball and one in golf. Additionally, Kapteyn led her AAU volleyball team to a state title this summer and a fifth-place finish at the Asics Nationals in Chicago.
