REDHAWK VOLLEYBALL TEAM TRIES FOR FIRST ROAD WIN
Following a five-match homestand, Miami University's volleyball team tries for its first road win of the season, traveling to Kent State for a 7 p.m. battle on Friday, Nov. 8. This is the lone contest of the week for the RedHawks. Last week, the Red and White suffered narrow losses to the East Division's top two teams-Akron and Ohio-taking each squad to five-games and falling in the fifth game by a two-point margin. Sophomore outside hitter Tara Buroker (Bluffton, Ohio/Bluffton) recorded a career-high 34 digs against the Zips on Sunday.

BUROKER NAMED MAC FEMALE SCHOLAR-ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Sophomore outside hitter Tara Buroker spearheaded Miami's defensive effort in narrow losses to the East Division's top two teams and earned Mid-American Conference Female Scholar-Athlete of the Week honors for her efforts, the conference office announced Tuesday. For the week, Buroker averaged an impressive 5.40 digs per game, which included 20 digs in a five-game match versus Ohio and a career-high 34 digs in a five-game match against Akron. Her 34 digs, an average of 6.80 digs per game, is the most by any Miami player in more than six years. She also notched five blocks against the Zips and averaged 0.60 blocks per game for the week and a team-high- tying 2.90 kills per game. With two double-double's last weekend, Buroker upped her season sum to a team-best 15 and now has recorded more than 20 digs on five occasions, eclipsing 28 digs in four of those matches. This is the first MAC Scholar-Athlete of the Week accolade for Buroker, who earned MAC East Division Player of the Week laurels in Miami's opening weekend of competition.

McCULLOUGH RECORDS TRIPLE-DOUBLE
Senior outside hitter Kelly McCullough (Hudson, Ohio/Hudson) chalked up another milestone to her Miami career last weekend when she notched a triple-double-the first of her career-in a five-game match over Ohio on Friday night. McCullough notched 13 kills a career-high 18 digs and a match-best 10 blocks (2 solo; 8 assist). This is the first RedHawk triple-double of the season.

OH SO CLOSE
Over its past six matches, Miami has gone to five games in four contests, dropping all four final games by a two-point margin to Northern Illinois, Ball State, Ohio and Akron. In its other loss, a four-game decision to Bowling Green, Miami also lost the fourth game by two points.

MORE CAREER MILESTONES
Freshman middle hitter Lindsey Sullenberger (Piqua, Ohio/Piqua) achieved a career milestone against Akron, serving up four aces. With her devastating jump serve, Sullenberger has recorded service aces in six of Miami's last eight matches, including multiple service aces in five contests.

ABOUT KENT STATE
Last weekend, the Golden Flashes pounded out four-game wins over Buffalo and Bowling Green to improve their record to 14-10 overall and 7-5 in Mid-American Conference action. Washington is No. 21 and Georgia Tech is No. 24.

ROAD WARRIORS
Following the Miami Best Western/Sycamore Inn Classic, the RedHawks host only one home match over a five-week span. Miami played in the Georgia Tech and TCU tournaments and at Cincinnati, No. 13 Ohio State and Dayton over the first two and a half weeks of that stretch. The RedHawks returned home to host Western Ontario on Sept. 21 before opening league action on the road for two straight weekends.

McCULLOUGH LAUNCHES CAREER-HIGH FIVE ACES
Earlier this season senior outside hitter Kelly McCullough tallied four service aces against Stephen F. Austin. McCullough launched a career-best five service aces against Kent State to help lift the RedHawks to their second consecutive conference win. In the first game against the Golden Flashes, McCullough served up three consecutive aces.

POLL NAMED MAC EAST DIVISION PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Following a weekend where she earned TCU Invitational MVP laurels, Miami University junior middle hitter Susan Poll was named Mid-American Conference East Division Player of the Week. Poll earned tournament MVP honors, the first of her career, and was on only the second all-tournament team of her career. Earlier this season, Poll was named to the Miami Classic All-Tournament Team. For the week, she averaged 3.60 kills and had a .350 hitting percentage to lead the team. Never having served up an ace in her career, Poll registered four over the week, including a career-high two against San Jose State. ENDURANCE DAY
On Sept. 14, the RedHawks' endurance was tested as the squad played nine games over a seven-hour stretch. Miami upended San Jose State in a grueling five-game match, which started at 10 a.m. and lasted two hours and 15 minutes. The RedHawks then had to turn around and face host TCU at 3 p.m. with little recovery time but came up short in a four-game loss to the Horned Frogs in a two-hour match. With the morning win over San Jose State, Miami assured itself the tournament title.

BUROKER NAMED MAC EAST DIVISION PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Sophomore outside hitter Tara Buroker wasted no time making her presence felt on the court for the RedHawks in their season-opening weekend and earned Mid-American Conference East Division Player of the Week honors for her efforts.
