CLEVELAND - The Mid-American Conference office announced Monday that senior setter Andrea Atteberry (Schererville, Ind.) has been named MAC East Division Co-Offensive Player of the Week for her play over the last weekend. It is the second time this season she has won the award, and she was previously named Offensive Player of the Week on Sept. 28.
Atteberry had a great week as she averaged an impressive 10.62 assists per set, while leading the RedHawks to a 3-0 win over Akron on Friday, and a 3-2 victory over Buffalo on Saturday. Against Buffalo, she had her second career triple-double (both this season), when she put down 10 kills, 55 assists and 12 digs. She won several battles with the blocker at the front of the net and helped Miami win the match in five sets by putting the ball down for the free kill. She was also strong the night before with 33 assists and three kills in straight set win over Akron. She made smart decisions on when to attack, as she hit .476 for the week.
Ellen Herman of Ohio shared the award with Atteberry this week.
The RedHawks return home on Thursday for a 7 p.m. match against Bowling Green at Millett Hall.
