OXFORD, Ohio-Regaining some of its home court momentum, Miami University's volleyball team downed Marshall in three games to hand the Thundering Herd only their second Mid-American Conference loss of the season. With a 31-29, 30-27, 30-26 win, Miami improved to 8-14 overall and 3-7 in the MAC, while Marshall dropped to 15-6 overall and 6-2 in league action.

In the first game, Miami led by as many as seven through the early stages of the game. Marshall inched its way back to knot the game, 19-19, but Miami was able to capture a 28-25 lead. The Herd tallied four straight points to gain a one-point edge, 29-28. However, a kill by sophomore outside hitter Tara Buroker (Bluffton, Ohio/Bluffton) and back-to-back kills from senior middle hitter Jennifer Eaton (Cincinnati, Ohio/Ursuline Academy) iced the game for the RedHawks, 31-29.

Despite a 2-7 deficit in the second game, the RedHawks went on a 15-5 run to capture its largest lead of the game, 17-12. From there the RedHawks rolled to a 30-27 win. A block by Eaton and freshman setter Megan Clark (Solon, Ohio/Solon) put down a big block to end the game for Miami.

Back-to-back service aces by freshman middle hitter Lindsey Sullenberger (Piqua, Ohio/Piqua) highlighted the third game and handed the RedHawks their largest lead of the third set, 20-14. A kill by junior middle hitter Susan Poll (Grand Rapids, Mich./East Kentwood) ended the match for the RedHawks with Miami taking the third game, 30-26.

Poll paced the Red and White with 16 kills, 400 hitting percentage and five blocks, while Buroker added a team-best 13 digs. Senior outside hitter Kelly McCullough (Hudson, Ohio/Hudson) notched 11 kills and nine digs, and Eaton posted 12 kills. Clark posted 45 assists.
