Day 11 - Carli Reihman
Dear Fans,
Our last full day in Brazil was an interesting one to say the least. Our day started by awaking at 7 a.m. to go on a boat tour. Our normal 50 passenger bus was unfortunately downsized to a smaller 25 passenger bus which wouldn't be that bad except the two hour drive that we thought was ahead of us ended up being about three and a half hours.
But once we arrived at our destination, we were all excited to enjoy a sunny day on the boat soaking up some rays and enjoying the beautiful view. The view was definitely incredible, but the sun didn't make an appearance. That didn't stop many of the players and parents from enjoying a swim in the gorgeous blue water. We stopped at two different islands where we were able to swim, snorkel, collect seashells, and admire the various fish and huge starfish that were swimming beside the boat.
Unfortunately, about halfway through the trip, the rain began. There were tarps covering the boat, but the wind helped the rain to find us. We were forced to dock the boat and wait out the rain. Although the rain made it very chilly, we did enjoy a nice hot meal to satisfy our grumbling stomachs. Once the rain had slowed, we were able to get back to our port and load onto our very small, cramped bus.
The rain continued throughout the duration of our ride back, causing the bus to navigate its way through up to two feet of water. A fun game of karaoke and name that tune helped to pass the time and made the four hour ride back seem more like two or three.
We did make it back in time to have a nice dinner at a restaurant just around the corner from our hotel. We all enjoyed our last dinner together in Brazil, and we were happy that for the first time we actually got to order off of a menu. We all finished dinner, full and tired, ready for our last day in Rio. We are keeping our fingers crossed for a sunny day to enjoy on the beach!
