OXFORD, Ohio – Miami University head volleyball coach Carolyn Condit announced today the hiring of Jason Reese as an assistant coach with the RedHawk program. Reese had spent the past four seasons as head coach of Kalamazoo Valley Community College.
“Jason comes highly recommended to our program and has established himself as a fine coach who is respected by his peers,” said Condit. “I am excited for him to join our program as he brings experience and good knowledge of the game with him. His strong personal skills will complement our recruiting plan already in place and will certainly benefit our team.”
During his time at KVCC, Reese guided the team to its first conference championship, won the Michigan Community College Athletic Association Tournament, the Regional Tournament and led the Cougars to their first appearance in the National Junior College Athletic Association National Tournament. Reese also served as an assistant coach at Kellogg Community College (2003-04) and Battle Creek Central High School (2000-03). During the summers, he has helped coach and train several volleyball club programs in Michigan.
Reese earned his bachelor degree from Western Michigan University and played for the Broncos from 1999-01. He has been an open level sand volleyball player since 2003 and helped lead his team to a Blue Water Volleygrass Men’s Intermediate Championship and Michigan Parks and Recreation State Tournament Championship in 2008.
“It feels really good to be a part of Miami University and Coach Condit's staff,” said Reese. “I can't wait to get rolling!”
The RedHawks open their 2009 season on Aug. 28 when they take on two-time defending national champion Penn State at the Billiken Invitational in St. Louis.
