AKRON, Ohio--Miami University's volleyball team was unable to extinguish a red-hot University of Akron team Friday night at the Zips' JAR Arena, tumbling, 3-1, to the MAC's East Division co-leader.

Akron, which won its sixth consecutive match and improved to 11-0 on its home court, claimed the first game, 30-14, before Miami regrouped and knotted the tally with a 30-28 victory in the second game. The Zips regained the advantage with a 30-21 win in the third game and outlasted the RedHawks 30-27 in the final game to clinch the match.

Senior outside hitter Kelly McCullough led the way for the Red and White, amassing 16 kills, seven digs and a service ace. Sophomore Tara Buroker added 10 kills as the only other RedHawk in double digits for kills, while freshmen Kristen Walters and Suzy Wolford contributed 13 and 12 digs, respectively. Freshman Megan Clark added 43 assists for the Red and White.

Miami, which is still in search of its first road victory, wraps up the regular season Saturday at Buffalo. The match is slated to begin at 5 p.m.
