BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - Despite a valiant come-from-behind effort, Miami University's volleyball team dropped a four-game match to Bowling Green in Mid-American Conference action on Wednesday night. Miami (12-8; 9-2 MAC) battled back to win game three after dropping the first two games, but Bowling Green (18-7; 9-2 MAC) snapped Miami's nine-match winning streak.

Tied at 6-6 in game one, a kill apiece by sophomore middle hitter Megan Griffin, senior middle hitter Carli Reihman and a service ace by senior outside hitter Jeanna Staun helped Miami take a four-point lead, 10-6. After a Bowling Green spurt cut Miami's lead to one point, 16-15, consecutive kills by Griffin through the Falcon block extend Miami's lead to 18-15 and forced a Bowling Green timeout. The Falcons took the next four points giving Bowling Green its first lead of the game, 22-21. A series of Miami errors allowed the Falcons to increase their lead to 26-23 and their three-point lead held as Bowling Green won game one, 30-27. Reihman had nine kills in the first game and hit .818.

Bowling Green used the momentum gained from its game one win to take a 13-5 lead in game two. Three kills by Reihman, two kills by junior outside hitter Emily Schroeder and two kills by Griffin allowed Miami to close within seven points, 18-25, but that would be as close as Miami got as the Falcons won game two, 30-20.

Miami came out of the 10-minute intermission and used kills by a variety of RedHawks to take a 7-4 lead. Up four points, 10-6, Miami's block allowed it to expand its lead to seven points, 14-7. From that point, Miami kept the pressure on as three kills by Schroeder and two kills by Reihman put Miami up 11 points, 25-14. Miami exchanged side outs with Bowling Green the rest of the way and won game three 30-20.

Trailing 6-3 in game four, three kills by Reihman ignited a Miami spurt allowing the RedHawks to take an 11-7 lead. Just as Bowling Green closed to within one point, 12-11, three kills by junior outside hitter Alex Ratcliff combined with a Falcon attack error pushed the RedHawks to a five-point lead, 16-11. The Falcons rallied by taking seven of the next nine points to tie the game, 18-18. After kills by Reihman and Ratcliff gave the RedHawks a 22-20 lead, four straight points from Bowling Green put the Falcons up 24-22. Back-to-back kills tied the match, 24-24 and three more ties ensued, with the last occurring at 27-27, before the last three points fell Bowling Green's way giving the Falcons a 30-27 win.

Reihman finished the match with 20 kills and 15 digs, her eighth double-double of the season.

Stephanie Swiger led the Falcons with 19 kills.

Miami heads to Northern Illinois for a 7 p.m. (CT) match on Saturday, Oct. 27.
