TOLEDO, Ohio - Miami University's volleyball team finished off its weekend with a three-game sweep over Toledo in Mid-American Conference play on Saturday afternoon. Miami (12-7; 9-1 MAC) has won nine consecutive matches and the RedHawks are off to their best conference start since the 1998 MAC Champion RedHawk squad began 9-1. Toledo dropped to 3-18 overall and 0-10 in the MAC.

Trailing 2-0 in game one, a kill and two service aces by senior middle hitter Carli Reihman led Miami to a 6-2 lead. Three ties ensued, with the last occurring at 15-15, until a Miami attack error and two Toledo kills gave the Rockets a three-point lead, 18-15. Still trailing by two points, 17-19, a kill by freshman setter Michelle Mangia and a Rocket attack error tied the game, 19-19. Two service aces by Mangia and a kill by Reihman ignited a five-point spurt for Miami giving the RedHawks a 26-21 lead. After a Toledo run cut Miami's lead to one point, 27-26, two kills by sophomore middle hitter Hallie Hanks and a service ace by junior outside hitter Catherine Wolfe gave the RedHawks a 30-26 game-one win.

Two kills by freshman middle hitter Michele Metzler, a service ace by Mangia and two kills by Reihman helped put the RedHawks up 7-0 to start the second game. After a Miami service error made the score 7-1, four consecutive errors by the Rockets pushed Miami's lead to 11-1. Miami went point-for-point the rest of the way with Toledo and the RedHawks took game two, 30-19.

A kill and a service ace by senior outside hitter Jeanna Staun and a kill apiece by sophomore middle hitter Megan Griffin and Mangia put Miami ahead 5-1 in game three. Consecutive kills by Griffin and Mangia put the RedHawks up six points, 13-7, before three more service errors gave the RedHawks a 16-8 lead. Two Toledo kills and three Miami errors allowed the Rockets to crawl back into the game, 16-13. After a Reihman service ace put Miami ahead 20-17, two kills by junior outside hitter Alex Ratcliff and a kill by Griffin allowed Miami to re-gain a six-point advantage, 23-17. Toledo cut Miami's lead to one point on two different occasions, but the RedHawks would not relinquish their lead and Miami took game three, and the match, 30-25.

Griffin and Metzler paced the RedHawk attack with 10 kills apiece, while junior libero Melissa Zenz posted a match-high 16 digs.

TaNeisha Winters led the Rockets with 12 kills.

Miami continues its four-match road trip when the Red and White travel to Bowling Green for a 7 p.m. contest on Wednesday, Oct. 24, before traveling to Northern Illinois for a 7 p.m. (CT) match on Saturday, Oct. 27.
