DAYTON, Ohio - Miami dropped a 3-0 decision to Dayton Saturday in its second game at the Dayton Flyer Classic. The RedHawks fall to 6-5 on the season, while Dayton improves to 7-4.

The RedHawks fell behind 3-8 early in the first set. After a timeout to regroup, Miami went on a 6-3 run to pull within two at 9-11. That run featured two kills by Megan Griffin, as well as one by Emily Schroeder. The teams traded points until the score was 16-14 Dayton. From there, the RedHawks went cold and the Flyers were able to finish off the set 25-16.

The second set started with three straight attack errors by Miami. Cassie Farrell put the RedHawks on the board when she scored a kill off an assist from Andrea Atteberry. With Dayton in front 6-2, the RedHawks recorded two kills from Griffin as well as one from Hallie Hanks that contributed to an 8-4 run that tied the score at 10. The Flyers pushed the lead back to five at 17-12, but Miami did not give in and went on another 8-4 run to pull within one at 20-21. After that, the RedHawks did score one more point off a Dayton attack error, but a 4-1 run gave the Flyers the 25-21 set win.

Miami started off strong in set three as it jumped to a 3-0 lead off a kill by Hanks, a block by Hanks and Maria Leahy and a Dayton attack error. A 9-0 run by the Flyers immediately following that put the RedHawks at a disadvantage for the rest of the set. Catherine Wolfe recorded a season high two kills during the set, but it was not enough and Miami fell 14-25.

Schroeder led the way with 10 kills and 11 digs. She hit at a .348 clip for the game.

Miami returns to action later Saturday when they face 20th-ranked Purdue at 5 p.m.

Notes:

Prior to game Maria Leahy's sister Emily sang the National Anthem.
