In her second year with the Miami volleyball program is Leigh Ann Matesich. Matesich came to Miami following a three-year playing career at DePauw University where she lettered all three seasons with the Tigers.
During her time at DePauw, the Tigers posted a 75-30 record, and Matesich was named to the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Academic Honor Roll all three years. As a senior, Matesich averaged 3.97 digs per game for the Tigers. In addition to her time as a student-athlete with the DePauw volleyball program, Matesich also served as an assistant recruitment coordinator with the volleyball program in 2003.
At DePauw, Matesich was a three-year member of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars, serving as president of the organization in 2003-04. She increased participation and responsibility of members by 90 percent and established a mentor reading program with local middle schools. Matesich also was a two-year member of the DePauw Independent Council, a three-year member of Lambda Pi Eta National Communication Honor Society and a one-year member of Chi Alpha Sigma National Athletic Honor Society.
In addition to her time with the volleyball program, Matesich was a student assistant coach with the DePauw women's basketball team in 2003-04. The team finished the year with a 26-4 record and finished the year ranked 11th in Division III. As a student assistant coach, Matesich analyzed game tape and created scouting reports, recorded game statistics for analysis and also provided feedback to players in practice. She also spent the 2002-03 season doing a coaching internship with the Denison University women's basketball program.
Prior to her time at DePauw, Matesich spent a year at St. Mary's College in Notre Dame, Ind., where she lettered in volleyball and basketball.
Matesich earned a bachelor's degree in communications with a minor in kinesiology in 2004. She is pursuing a master's in sport studies at Miami.
