Junior Andrea Kremer (Indianapolis, Ind./Bishop Chatard) has been named an all-American for the second time during her career at Miami after she was the sixth American to cross the finish line at the NCAA Outdoor Championships in Sacramento, Calif. early Saturday morning in the 3,000-meter steeplechase. Kremer placed tenth overall and ran a time of 10:10.51, which is nearly two seconds faster than her personal best that she set last season. This is the ninth time that a Miami women's track and field athlete has earned all-America distinction.

Sophomore David Mitchell (Woodridge, Ill./Downers Grove South), junior Lauren Collins (Indianapolis, Ind./Lawrence Central) and senior Brian Godsey (West Chester, Ohio/Lakota East) all competed at the NCAA Championships last week.

During track and field as a freshman, Kremer earned all-America honors at the NCAA Championships, where she turned in a 10:12.86 in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, setting a new U.S. Junior record and missing the World Junior record by less than two seconds. During cross country last season, Kremer became the second Miami cross country runner to earn all-America honors, courtesy of her 25th-place finish at the NCAA Championships.

This year, Kremer has been named Verizon all-region, academic all-MAC and first team all-MAC in track and field. In addition to rewriting the record books in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, she also met the NCAA Regional Standard time in the 5,000-meter run. Kremer ran the second fastest time in school history behind former all-American, Molly Collen at the Adidas Raleigh Relays. At the MAC Championships, Kremer crushed the 3,000-meter steeplechase competition as she won by nearly 11 seconds with a track-record time. Kremer also set a track-record time in the 5,000-meter run for first place.
