Junior Andrea Kremer (Indianapolis, Ind./Bishop Chatard) and sophomore David Mitchell (Woodridge, Ill./Downers Grove South) qualified on late Wednesday night and early Thursday morning in the preliminaries to compete on Friday and Saturday in the NCAA Outdoor Championships Finals on the campus of California State University in Sacramento, Calif. Junior Brian Godsey (West Chester, Ohio/Lakota East) was one spot behind Mitchell and did not make the cut while junior Lauren Collins (Indianpolis, Ind./Lawrence Central) throws the hammer at 8 p.m. ET to see if she qualifies for Saturday's final.

Kremer, who entered the race with the nation's 11th fastest time in the steeplechase, finished sixth in her heat and 12th overall to become one of 14 runners who will run in the finals on Friday at 11:50 p.m. ET. Kremer finished with a time of 10:17.47, which is more than a second off her season best time and nearly five seconds off her personal best time. Letiwe Marakurwa of Idaho finished with the top time as she crossed the line in 10:03.76.

On the men's side, Mitchell placed ninth in his heat to earn the final spot into the 5,000-meter run final, which will take place on Saturday/Sunday at 9 p.m. PT/12 a.m. ET in Sacramento, Calif. Godsey, who finished tenth, was the first runner to miss the final cut in the second heat. Mitchell ran the race in 14:10.20, while Godsey finished in 14:17.79. Mitchell was more than nine seconds below his personal best while Godsey ran more than 15 seconds off his personal best time. Fellow Mid-American Conference runner, Boaz Cheboiywo from Eastern Michigan, finished first in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 13:58.96.
