The Mid-American Conference announced on Wednesday that juniors Andrea Kremer (Indianapolis, Ind./Bishop Chatard) and Lauren Collins (Indianapolis, Ind./Lawrence Central) have become two of six female track and field athletes to be named to the Academic All-MAC team after already earning all-MAC status. Kremer and Collins combined to beat five MAC teams at the MAC Championships as the two combined to score 51 points.

Kremer credentials are pretty impressive as she continued to rewrite the record books in the 3000-meter steeplechase earlier this season at the Jesse Owens Classic as her NCAA Qualifying Standard of 10:20.85 ranks second in Miami history and among the nation's elite. Kremer also met an NCAA Regional qualifying mark in the 5,000-meter run as she ran the second fastest time in school history behind former all-American, Molly Cullen at the Adidas Raleigh Relays. At the MAC Championships, Kremer crushed the 3,000-meter steeplechase competition as she won by nearly 11 seconds with a track-record time. Kremer also set a track-record time in the 5,000-meter run for first place. Finally, Kremer took sixth in the 1,500-meter run to nearly miss the NCAA Regional Qualifying time with her season-best time. Kremer was named MAC Women's co-Runner of the Week for the fifth time in her college career and second time of the year on April 14. Kremer holds a 3.80 GPA in Mathematics.

Collins definitely showed her incredible talent at the MAC Championships as she earned the Most Valuable Performance award after her personal record throw of 193'07" in the hammer throw. The NCAA Regional Qualifying mark crushed the MAC meet record by nearly nine feet and also the track record by the same distance for first place. Collins' throw also beat the Miami record by almost 21 feet. In the shot put, Collins broke the Miami school record with an NCAA Regional Qualifying mark of 49'01.5" for first place. Collins took second in the discus with a 153'10" mark at the MAC meet. At the Southern Ohio Cup, Collins threw her season best NCAA Regional Qualifying mark of 154'11" in the discus. Collins earned the MAC Female Track and Field Athlete of the Week award on April 7. Collins received her second career MAC Scholar-Athlete of the Week award on Feb. 12 during the indoor track and field season. Collins holds a 3.53 GPA in Interdisciplinary Studies.
