Junior All-American Andrea Kremer (Indianapolis, Ind./Bishop Chatard) was named Mid-American Conference Women's co-Runner of the Week, the conference office announced Monday. At the Miami Invitational on Saturday, Kremer took first place in two events, the 1500-meter run and 3000-meter steeplechase. As a result, Kremer currently holds the nation's third fastest time in the steeplechase run.
Kremer met an NCAA Regional qualifying mark and set a Miami Invitational meet record in the steeplechase with a 10:27.39 clocking as she helped the RedHawks claim first at the 18th annual women's invitational. Kremer's other first-place finish on Saturday was in the 1500-meter run with a time of 4:34.85.
Earlier in the season Kremer met an NCAA Regional qualifying mark in the 5,000-meter run. Kremer posted a new personal record at the Adidas Raleigh Relays on the campus of North Carolina State on March 28, as she placed fifth out of over 150 runners with a time of 16:35.00. Only one other collegiate runner beat Kremer as she ran the second fastest time in school history behind former all-American, Molly Cullen
Kremer is no stranger to the weekly awards. During the fall, Kremer earned the MAC Women's Runner of the Week and MAC Women's Scholar Athlete accolade on Sept. 10. Last season, Kremer earned the MAC Women's Runner of the Week accolade three times, the MAC Women's Track and Field Athlete of the Week once, and the MAC Female Scholar-Athlete of the Week award twice.
