OXFORD, Ohio - Thirteen teams from five states will compete Saturday, April 13 on the George Rider Track at the annual Miami Invitational track and field meet. This is the 17th year for the women's competition and the seventh for the men's.

The field is one of the strongest in years. It includes Ball State, Butler, Cedarville, Detroit Mercy, Eastern Illinois, Louisville, Marshall, Miami, Michigan, Purdue, Valparaiso, Wright State and Xavier. Eastern Illinois, Michigan and Wright State are sending just their women's squads while only the Louisville men are making the trek.

Field events get underway at 10:30 a.m. and action on the track commences at 1 p.m. The meet uses the NCAA scoring format, with points being awarded to the top eight finishers in each event. Results will be posted on Miami's athletics web site (MURedHawks.com) following the conclusion of the meet.

Last year, Western Michigan ran away with the men's title while Purdue gained a narrow victory over the RedHawks, 176-171.
