Miami's women's track and field team, strong second place finish at home last weekend, looks to keep up momentum as they head to the Duke Invitational this Friday and Saturday in Durham, NC.
A multitude of first-place finishes propelled the RedHawk women to a strong finish in the 10th annual Southern Ohio Cup. Sophomore Amanda Mirochna took first in both the 1500- and 800-meter races, with times of 4:41.54 and 2:16.73, respectively. Teammate Katie Lenahan came in a close third in 2:16.97.
Sophomore distance runner Laura Neufarth clinched the 5000 meters by more than 20-seconds, with a final time of 17:02.75.
Senior jumper Kristina Bolterstein finished first in the high jump with a height of 5-8 ¾, followed close behind by junior Katelyn Kelly who earned second at 5-7. Fellow jumper freshman Hope Alexander was third in the triple jump with a leap of 34-4 ¾.
Sophomore Jessica DeWitt earned third in the 3000-meter steeplechase in a time of 11:44.97. The RedHawk women rounded out the meet with a third place finish by the 4X400 team of Alexis Lape, Alisha Jones, Andrea Tepe and Betsy Allen in 3:52.92.
The Miami women will return home following the trip to North Carolina for the Miami Team Challenge on April 11th and 12th.
