OXFORD, Ohio - - Five members of the Miami University women's track and field team have been honored with All-Mid-American Conference accolades following their performances this past weekend at the conference championships in Ypsilanti, Michigan.
Margarita Pogorelov, Laura Neufarth and Kristina Bolterstein earned first-team recognition by winning their respective events, while Rebekah Hollander and Katelyn Kelly earned second-team nods by finishing as runner-ups.
Pogorelov, a sophomore from Bat Yam, Israel, set an Israeli national record by running a personal-best of 7.50 to win the 60-meter dash. She also finished second in the 200-meter dash with a Miami record time of 24.75.
Neufarth, a sophomore from Centerville, Ohio, defended her MAC cross country title by winning the 5,000 meters in a personal best of 16:52.77, a time that ranks second all-time at Miami, sixth all-time in the MAC, and was more than 25-seconds ahead of the second-place finisher. Neufarth additionally finished second in the 3,000 meters in 9:45.80.
Kristina Bolterstein, a senior from Middleburg Heights, Ohio, won her third-straight MAC crown in the high jump, clearing a season-best of 5-11 ¼. She now ranks 11th nationally and is slated to compete in the NCAA National Championships later this month.
Hollander, a junior from Centerville, Ohio, finished second in the 5,000 meters in a personal-record time of 17:18.87, which is 28 seconds faster than her previous best time. She later came in eighth place in the 3,000 meters in another personal best of 10:04.51. Hollander entered the 2007-07 season with a personal best of 10:55.14 in the indoor 3,000 meters.
