OXFORD, Ohio - For a third straight weekend, the Miami University women's track and field team travels to the neighboring state to the west, as the RedHawks will compete at the Meyo Invitational, hosted by Notre Dame, Friday and Saturday. The last two weekends, Miami competed in Bloomington, Indiana on the campus of Indiana University.

Action at Notre Dame's Loftus Sports Center gets underway Friday at 5 p.m. with the long jump, while Meyo Track sees its first competition at 6 p.m. with the 5000m run. Friday's action concludes at 8:45 p.m. with the 500-meter run. Saturday's events begin at 9 a.m. with the 3000m run while the first field events are the shot put and pole vault at 11 a.m. The meet then wraps up at approximately 4:25 p.m. with the 4x400-meter relay. The Meyo Invitational will prove to be Miami's toughest meet of the season so far, as teams from around the country will travel to South Bend, making it the deepest field the 'Hawks have competed against this season. The Meyo Track is also larger than the standard 200m track, as it is one fifth of a mile long (or roughly 322m), giving it longer straightaways and making it one of the largest indoor tracks in the country, which could allow for a high number of NCAA provisional and automatic qualifying times.

Last year, Miami had a split squad compete at the Meyo Invite, as mostly distance runners competed. The RedHawks took seventh in the distance medley relay in 2009 while also having strong showings in the mile run and 3000m.

Last weekend at the Indiana Relays, junior Kelley Miller (Dublin, Ohio) broke the school record in the mile with an NCAA provisional time of 4:46.57 while senior Nicki Mitchell (Lake Forest, Ill.) won the long jump invitational final with a personal-best leap of 18-8.50, which ranks her second on Miami's all-time performers list. Miller also helped the 'Hawks win the distance medley relay in 11:49.10.

As the Mid-American Conference Championships near (Feb. 26-27), a few RedHawks have posted the top time or score in the conference in their respective events so far this season. Miller's mile time from last weekend is the top in the MAC while senior Amanda Mirochna (Naperville, Ill.) is second with her time of 4:53.31. Miami's distance medley relay time from the Indiana Relays is also tops in the MAC. Miller holds the league's top 800m time (2:13.03) as well, which she set at the Gladstein Invite two weeks ago. At the same meet, redshirt sophomore Rachel Patterson (Rochester, Mich.) clocked the top 3000m so far in the MAC (9:38.84), while Mirochna's time of 9:43.94 is second. Also at the Gladstein Invite, Mitchell's pentathlon score of 3,670 currently ranks second among MAC athletes. For the complete list of top MAC times, click here.

Following the Meyo Invitational, Miami will be in action Feb. 12-13 at the All-Ohio Indoor Championships in Bowling Green, Ohio.
