Saturday Results

Several Miami women's track and field team members excelled Saturday as competition wraped up at the Findlay Oiler Open. Margarita Porgorelov turned in the top performance of the day, winning both the 60m and 200m dashes, plus running the fastest qualifying time in the shorter race.

"We came with a lot more energy today," Head Coach Rita Arndt-Molis said. "I am happy that we had multiple runners in several finals. That is an indication of a strong team with depth."

Porgorelov opened the day with a qualifying time of 7.65 seconds in the 60, then followed it up by winning the final by 0.01 seconds with a time of 7.70. She turned in a time of 25.68 in the 200. The Redhawks claimed the top two spots in the long jump as Nicki Mitchell cleared 5.55 meters (18-2.50), while Magda Wikar covered 5.37 meters (17-07.50).

Katelyn Kelly tied for first in the high jump at 1.68 meters (5-06.00) and was fourth in the 300 meters.

Miami was also impressive at the 400-meter distance. First, the trio of Rachael Clay, Betsey Allen and Ruth Rasch finished 2-3-4 in singles race, then the 4x400 relay team took first place.

This was the only indoor meet of the fall semester for the RedHawks. They return to action Jan. 16 at the Denison Lid Lifter.
