The Miami women's track and field team continued its impressive march through the first two days at the Mid-American Conference Championships by holding first place over the host school, Central Michigan. The RedHawks, who own 44 points, have a 2.5 point lead over the Chippewas as junior Andrea Kremer (Indianapolis, Ind./Bishop Chatard) and junior Lauren Collins (Indianapolis, Ind./Lawrence Central) both took first place in the 3,000-meter steeplechase and the shot put, respectively.
In the steeplechase, Kremer crushed the competition to win the race by nearly 11 seconds with a track-record time of 10:22.40 for 10 Miami points. Senior Kylee Studer (Edgerton, Ohio/Edgerton) came in with her personal best time of 10:48.57 for fourth place to give Miami five more points.
In the shot put, Collins broke the Miami school record with a mark of 49'01.5" to also give Miami 10 points. Collins already broke the Miami record and won the hammer throw on Thursday.
Miami also added some points in the javelin with senior Ally Sisler (Marion, Ohio/Pleasant) throwing a personal best throw of 132'03" while freshman Joanna Borawski (Bayonee, N.J./Bayonne) threw a distance of 127'07" for fifth and sixth place and four and three points, respectively.
Sophomore Tabitha Schwartz (Concord, Va./Appomatox) added another point with an 11'00.25" mark in the pole vault.
