Collins Leads RedHawks During Day One at the MACs

Junior Lauren Collins (Indianapolis, Ind./Lawrence Central) got Miami off to the right start at the Mid-American Conference Championships on Thursday afternoon in Mt. Pleasant, Mich. when she dazzled the field with an incredible first-place hammer throw.
Collins personal record throw of 193'07" crushed the MAC meet record by nearly nine feet and also the track record by the same distance. Collins' throw also beat the Miami record by almost 21 feet.
With the throw, Collins gave Miami 10 points and puts the RedHawks in fourth place, which is six points behind Toledo who holds the lead.
