INDIANAPOLIS - Freshman Tabitha Schwartz (Concord, Va./Appomatox) broke the school pole vault record, sophomore Lauren Collins (Indianapolis, Ind./Lawrence Central) moved into second on Miami's all-time list in the discus and sophomore Andrea Kremer (Indianapolis, Ind./Bishop Chatard) won the 3,000 steeplechase Saturday, May 4 at the Butler Twilight Open.

Schwartz cleared the bar at 11-6 1/4, breaking Sharon Poisson's old mark of 11-3 3/4 and increasing her outdoor personal best by six inches. She placed fifth in the competition.

With her fourth-place hurl of 157-3, Collins vaulted ahead of Brenda Reed's mark of 153-2 and into the runner spot, behind Christin Scott's school standard of 163-1. She improved her career best by a whopping 5-9.

For the third week in a row, Kremer won the 3,000 steeplechase in convincing fashion, this time crossing the finish line in 10:43.20.

A trio of RedHawks took home fifth-place finishes: junior Kylee Studer (Edgerton, Ohio/Edgerton) in the 1,500 (4:39.38), sophomore Erin Connolly (Springfield, Ohio/Shawnee) in the 100 hurdles (14.40) and sophomore Ally Sisler (Marion, Ohio/Pleasant) in the javelin (120-2). The 4x400 relay team also came in fifth.

Miami travels to the Indiana Invitational Saturday, May 11 for its final tune-up before the Mid-American Conference Championships.
