OXFORD, Ohio - The Miami University women's track and field team opened up competition at the Miami Team Challenge by competing in the hammer throw on Friday afternoon at the George L. Rider Track in Oxford.

Hope Alexander registered a seventh-place finish with a mark of 151-9. Alexia DeWitz and Kristen Mathews were 32nd and 33rd, respectively with throws of 117-4 and 114-0.

Whitney Harmon of Bowling Green won the event with a NCAA provisional qualifying mark of 181-4.

The rest of the Miami Team Challenge events will take place tomorrow at the Rider Track complex beginning at 11 a.m.
