DURHAM, N.C. - The Miami University women's track and field team began competition at the Duke Invitational on Friday in Durham, N.C. with several impressive performances leading into Saturday's events.

Alexis Lape and Alisha Jones were third and sixth, respectively in the 400-meter hurdles, with times of 1:01.39 and 1:02.54. Andrea Tepe was 11th with a time of 1:03.87.

Amanda Mirochna took 13th place in the 1500 meters with a time of 4:38.28. Jennie Stoll took 27th in the same event with a time of 4:43.42.

Brittney Bernardoni was seventh in the pole vault, clearing 11-11 ¾.

Hope Alexander threw 143-10 in the hammer, ending in 26th place. She also went 34-1 ¼ in the triple jump, finishing 31st.

Ruth Rasch was ninth in the developmental 400-meter dash, ending in 59.89, while finishing 25th in the developmental 200-meters at 27.18. Sarah Fletcher was 13th in the developmental 200-meters with a time of 26.44. Mia Fiegelist was fifth in the developmental 1500 meters, finishing with a time of 4:50.07.

The Duke Invitational continues on Saturday with events beginning at 9 a.m. in Durham, N.C.
