Final Stats

The Miami women's track and field team had quite a weekend after finishing strong at the Adidas Raleigh Relays, one of the top meets in the nation, and at the Ball State Relays for the Mid-American Conference season opener.

Sophomore Katie Dyer (Merrillville, Ind./Merrilleville) stepped up nicely while Erin Connolly (Springfield, Ohio/Shawnee) was in North Carolina State by winning both the 100-meter hurdles and the 400-meter hurdles. Dyer had times of 0:14.71 and 1:05.54 to take home two first-place finishes.

Freshman Jackie Benson also took advantage of the absence of Tabitha Schwartz (Concord, Va./Appomatox) to easily win the pole vault for her first top-finish of the year.

In the shot put, junior Lauren Collins (Indianapolis, Ind./Lawrence Central) easily beat teammate Lindsey Arundel (Rocky River, Ohio/Magnificant) for first place while also winning the discus throw by more than 25 feet for two first-place finishes on the afternoon.

Freshman Joanna Borawski (Bayonee, N.J./Bayonne) had her second straight strong finish in the javelin throw after she won for the first-time in her career to beat teammate Ally Sisler (Marion, Ohio/Pleasant) by eight feet.

At the Adidas Raleigh Relays on the campus of North Carolina State, junior Bernitta Johnson (Wilkes-Barre, Pa./GAR Memorial) had the top finish of the day for Miami after she placed 17th out of nearly 75 of the nation's top competitors in the triple jump.

The RedHawks will continue their tough schedule by traveling down to South Carolina for the Clemson Invitational next weekend.
