Tuscaloosa, Ala. - Miami's women's track and field team had several fine performances on the first day of the Alabama Relays as four RedHawks claimed with top-10 finishes.
In the field events, junior Brienne Wade (Papillion, Neb./LaVista) cleared 10-0 in the collegiate pole vault competition, good for fourth place. Sophomore Lauren Collins (Indianapolis, Ind./Lawrence Central) came in sixth in the shot put, launching it 43-8 1/2. She also took 11th in the discus with a mark of 133-8.
On the track, junior Kylee Studer (Edgerton, Ohio/Edgerton) placed ninth in the 1,500 with a 4:45.28 clocking. Senior Liz Lundgren (Centerville, Ohio/Centerville) also took ninth in the 3,000 in a time of 10:25.92 while sophomore Kate Steffen (Roselle, Ill./Lake Park) finished 11th in the 5,000, crossing the finish line in 18:49.01.
Competition on Day Two begins at 9 a.m. with the hammer throw and will conclude around 5:30 p.m.
