SOUTH BEND, Ind. - Two RedHawks from the Miami University women’s track team ran at the Alex Wilson Invitational, hosted by Notre Dame Saturday, in a last chance to improve upon their NCAA provisional qualifying times before next week’s NCAA Championships, but both came up just short of their school-record marks from earlier this season.

Junior Kelley Miller (Dublin, Ohio) took ninth in the mile run in 4:47.12, less than a second behind her school-record and NCAA provisional time of 4:46.57, which she set on Jan. 29 at the Indiana Relays. Miller’s time Saturday was the second-fastest clocking in Miami indoor history, trailing only her school-record time, as she now holds the top three fastest times in the event all-time by a RedHawk. Oklahoma State’s Mihaela Susa won the 24-person mile run in 4:36.38.

Senior Amanda Mirochna (Naperville, Ill.) placed eighth in 3000m run in 9:39.80, falling short of her school-record and NCAA provisional mark of 9:31.98, which she set Feb. 6 at the Meyo Invitational that was also held at Notre Dame’s Loftus Sports Center. Kansas State’s Beverly Ramos won the 3000m race in 9:14.62 out of 12 runners.

With neither RedHawk improving their provisional time, it is unlikely either will qualify for the NCAA Championships March 12-13, effectively concluding Miami’s 2010 indoor season. The RedHawks begin their outdoor season March 26-27 at the Vanderbilt Black and Gold meet in Nashville, Tenn.
