Final Stats

The Miami women's indoor track and field team placed eighth in the Mid-American Conference Championships on Saturday at the Kent State Fieldhouse. Junior Erin Connolly (Springfield, Ohio/Shawnee) highlighted the day for Miami with the lone first-place finish.

Connolly came into the race with the top time in the MAC and the top time in the prelims and proved why when she sprinted past the finish line in 0:08.46. Connolly was named first-team all-MAC because of her stellar performance. Senior Kate Christoff (Lima, Ohio/Central Catholic) placed fifth to also give Miami points.

Junior Andrea Kremer (Indianapolis, Ind./Bishop Chatard) also upped the RedHawk's score by placing third and sixth in the 3,000-meter run and the mile run. Kremer ran the two races in 9:49.34 and 4:58.79, respectively, to give the RedHawks nine points.

Another highlight for the Red and White came in the 4x400 relay, when Miami set a new indoor track and field record with a time of 3:49.91.The distance medley relay also gave the RedHawks a boost by placing fourth in a time of 11:48.81.

Junior Lauren Collins (Indianapolis, Ind./Lawrence Central) threw the shot put a distance of 46'08" for fourth place to add five points to Miami's overall score.

The RedHawks will have more than two weeks off before it heads down south to the Alabama Relays in the opening meet for the outdoor track and field season on March 20.
