CEDARVILLE, Ohio - Sparked by wins in eight events, including a school record performance by sophomore Sarah Landau (Geneva, Ill.) in the pole vault, the Miami University women's track and field team cruised to its third consecutive top finish in a team-scored meet, finishing first at Friday's Cedarville Open. Miami placed first with 250 points, easily outdistancing second-place Dayton (102) and third-place Cedarville (84).

One week after setting school record in the pole vault at 12-11 3/4 at the Rod McCravy Invitational, Landau reset the Miami pole vault standard for the fifth time in her career with a vault of 13-0. Landau, who improved her NCAA provisional qualifying standing with her record-setting vault, was one of six different athletes to post individual wins at the Doden Fieldhouse, with junior Lashonda Davis (Kokomo, Ind.) finishing as the only Miami athlete with multiple individual wins.

In the six field events contested, Miami posted three first-place finishes and had at least one athlete place among the top three in all six events. Landau, Davis and senior Lindsey Arundel (Rocky River, Ohio) each tallied top finishes in the pole vault (13-0), long jump (18-8) and shot put (44-9), respectively, with Landau setting both a meet record and fieldhouse record with her vault. Miami also placed the top four athletes in the pole vault and three of the top four finishers in the high jump, led by sophomore Kristina Bolterstein's (Middleburg Heights, Ohio) second-place finish.

Miami also won four of the seven individual track events at Cedarville, including 2-of-3 middle distance events and both sprint events. Freshman Betsy Allen (Wooster, Ohio) and sophomore Sarah Henize (Bucyrus, Ohio) posted Miami's pair of wins in the middle distance events, winning the 400 meters (59.16) and 800 meters (2:21.46), respectively, while Davis and freshman Alexis Lape (Lancaster, Ohio) swept the 55 meters (7.05) and 55 meter-hurdles (8.33). All four first-place performances also were meet and fieldhouse records in their respective events.

Sophomore Jennie Stoll (Pewaukee, Wis.) tallied Miami's final individual win in the mile run with a first-place time of 5:07.15. The RedHawks also posted a top finish in the 4x400 relay, clocking in with a time of 4:06.26.

Miami has now finished atop the standings in three consecutive team-scored meets, with its other first-place finishes coming at the Bowling Green Invitational (Jan. 14) and the Eastern Illinois Invitational (Jan. 21).

The RedHawks resume their push towards the conference meet next weekend when they travel to the All-Ohio Championships Feb. 11 at Findlay, Ohio.
