Lexington, Ky. - Miami's women's indoor track and field team competed Feb. 1-2 at the non-scoring Red McCravy Memorial in Lexington, Ky. Among the highlights from the weekend were sophomore Andrea Kremer (Indianapolis, Ind./Bishop Chatard) winning the 3,000-meter run and freshman Tabitha Schwartz (Appomatox, Va./Appomatox) improving her school pole vault record.

Kremer smoked the field in the 3,000, winning in a time of 9:43.50, more than 20 seconds ahead of the runner-up. Her time represents is the best this season in the Mid-American Conference by an astounding 32 seconds.

After she and junior Brienne Wade (Papillon, Neb./LaVista) set a new school record in the pole vault last weekend at the Findlay Classic with a height of 11-0, Schwartz raised the bar ever so slightly Saturday, clearing 11-0 1/4, good for a third-place finish. Wade finished tied for fifth with a vault of 10-6.

Sophomore Lauren Collins (Indianapolis, Ind./Lawrence Central) continued to show why she will be a force to be reckoned with come the MAC Championships. Her mark of 56-7 1/2 in the 20-pound weight throw broke the existing meet record of 54-8, but she placed third because two other competitors broke the mark by greater margins. She also posted a career best in the shot put, hurling the ball 45-5 1/4, which ranked fourth in the event.

Other notable performances were the fifth-place finish in the triple jump by Bernitta Johnson (Wilkes-Barre, Pa./GAR Memorial), with a leap of 37-11 1/2, the sixth-place finish of sophomore Jenny Korrison (Glen Ellyn, Ill./Glenbard West) in the 800, clocking in at 2:17.56, and the third-place finish by the 4x400 relay team, which toured the oval in 3:58.53.
