Final Stats
Miami's women's indoor track and field team looked impressive in the non-scoring meet at the Butler-Stan Lyons Invitational on Saturday in Indianapolis, Ind. Of the 16 events, the RedHawks took eight first-place marks, four second-place finishes and two third-place honors when all the non-collegiate athletes were taken out of the results.
The highlight of the day for the Red and White came when Andrea Kremer (Indianapolis, Ind./Bishop Chatard) set a new Miami record with her time in the 5000-meter run. Kremer lapped everyone on the course at least one time to easily win the race.
Miami took the top spots in the pole vault, triple jump, 5000-meter run, 3000-meter run, distance medley relay and one-mile run. The Red and White finished second in the 20 lb. weighted throw, high jump, 400-meter run and 60-meter hurdles. The two third place finishes came in the long jump and the 800-meter run.
"It was a good overall effort by our team even though the competition wasn't the highest level we will face this season," said head coach Richard Ceronie. "We will need to build off this and put together a great effort next weekend."
Miami will be traveling to Columbus, Ohio to run in the Ohio State Invitational next Saturday.
