Final Stats
Miami's women's indoor track and field team took down the schools greatest rivals in their second meet of the season on Friday night. The RedHawks defeated the University of Cincinnati, Ohio University and the University of Dayton with 158 points in their 12th running of the race. Senior Erika Harper (Bedford, Ohio/Bedford) and junior Andrea Kremer (Indianapolis, Ind./Bishop Chatard) each won two events for the Red and White.
Harper showed her skills in the sprinting events by beating the rest of the field in the 200- and 400-meter dash events with times of 0:26.08 and 0:58.08, respectively.
Kremer found the same success as Harper, the cross country star beat out the rest of her opponents in the distance events. Kremer won the 1,600- and 3,000-meter events by crossing the line first in 5:03.20 and 9:56.02, respectively.
Although sophomore Jenny Korrison (Glen Ellyn, Ill./Glenbard West) did not win two events, she was one of three RedHawks who left Cincinnati with one first-place finish. Korrison topped the field with a time of 2:19.29 in the 800-meter run.
Sophomore Bernitta Johnson (Wilkes-Barre, Pa./GAR Memorial) proved Miami's power in the field events as Johnson jumped 11.83 meters past the rest of the field for a first-place finish in the triple jump event.
Junior Lauren Collins (Indianapolis, Ind/Lawrence Central) was the last RedHawk to earn a top finish when she threw the shut put 48-00.00, far beyond the three other schools competitors.
Miami will be back in action next weekend when they travel to the Bowling Green Quintangular in Bowling Green, Ohio on Saturday.
