Layne Richards begins his second year at Miami after spending two years at Southern Utah University, his alma mater.
He will be counted on to continue his success with the vaulters, high jumpers and multi-eventers. Last year, Katie Hanley finished fifth in the heptathlon with a career-best mark, pole vaulter Brienne Wade improved by more than a foot and high jumper Lindsay Hazen scored at both the indoor and outdoor Mid-American Conference meets.
“Layne did a great job in his first year at Miami,” says Ceronie. “I think he complements Jen and me very well and has brought some outstanding new ideas to our program. He represents Miami University well and will be an integral part of our rebuilding effort.”
Richards earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Southern Utah, where he was chosen the Mid-Continent Conference Athlete of the Year in track & field.
