It's a big weekend for Miami University's tennis team as four RedHawks take flight for Texas to compete in the Midland Invitational, while six players head to Kalamazoo, Mich., for the MAC Fall Invite.

Sophomores Anastasia Dracheva and Megan Martzolf along with freshmen Stephanie Danesis and Reikie Honiball will compete in the Midland Invitational in Midland, Texas, Oct. 10-12.

"There are a lot of great teams competing in this tournament," said assistant coach Ricardo Rosas. "We are excited to see how our players will compete, and it should be a weekend of strong tennis competition."

According to Rosas, the strength of the tournament field is similar to the season-opening tournament at the William & Mary Invitational, which Dracheva, Martzolf and Danesis all competed in.

Danesis won Flight B Singles, while Martzolf won the Flight D Singles consolation bracket. Dracheva competed in Flight A Singles, where she advanced in the consolation bracket.

Honiball is coming off a weekend where she advanced to the Singles A consolation finals at the Queen City Invitational.

Six RedHawks will compete at the MAC Fall Invite, which features the various Mid-American Conference teams and is hosted by Western Michigan University.

Junior Lauren Hofmann, sophomores Cara Wald and Sydnee Bridger along with freshmen Jessica Parr, Jackie Kolman and Laura Grace Mezher will represent Miami at the MAC Fall Invite.

"This is a good tournament to play in because it's all the conference teams who we will see during the season," said Rosas.

All six RedHawks competing at the MAC Fall Invite competed last weekend at the Queen City Invitational.

Wald picked up three wins in Singles A Main Draw to advance to the finals in the championship bracket. Mezher and Parr each advanced to the finals of Singles D Main Draw.

Bridger won the Singles B-Consolation B bracket, while Kolman and Hofmann advanced in Singles C in the Consolation A bracket with Kolman advancing to the finals.
