OXFORD, Ohio--Two Miami University women's tennis standouts were honored tonight at the annual Mid-American Conference Women's Tennis Tournament banquet at the Walter L. Gross Student-Athlete Development Center in Oxford. Junior Katrina Lomidze (Pompano Beach, Fla.) and sophomore Leda Pesatova (Podlesi, Czech Republic) were named first- and second-team all-MAC by vote of the league coaches.

Lomidze, who plays at both first singles and first doubles for the Red and White, is Miami's first first-team all-MAC selection since Kadija Richards in 2002. The junior, despite playing against the highest level of competition in both singles and doubles, has posted a 12-17 singles record this season, including a 4-4 record in league play. She also has teamed with classmate Linda Jirouskova to post a 6-10 record at No. 1 doubles and 3-3 tally in league action. The all-MAC honor is the first of her career.

Pesatova, who plays at second singles and third doubles for the RedHawks, also captured her first all-MAC honor. A year after holding down the No. 4 spot in Miami's singles lineup, Pesatova rose in the lineup and established herself as one of the MAC's top competitors. The sophomore owns a 15-13 singles record this season and posted a 4-3 record against Mid-American Conference competition. She teams with fellow sophomore Victoria Pulido to form Miami's No. 3 doubles pair, where the two have posted an impressive 9-2 mark.

Earning top honors at the banquet were Buffalo's Kathy Twist, MAC Coach of the Year; Western Michigan's Kerstin Pahl, MAC Freshman of the Year; Western Michigan's Malena Remynse, MAC Player of the Year; and Akron's Tonya Gombera, the Leann Grimes Davidge Sportsmanship Award winner.

The duo leads Miami into the MAC Tournament tomorrow, when the RedHawks host Ball State in a 10 a.m. MAC Quarterfinal match. Miami is hosting the MAC Tournament for the first time since 1995.
