Senior women's tennis player Victoria Pulido comes to Miami by way of Cuernavaca, Mexico, near Mexico City.
A marketing and international business major, Vickie completed an internship with a marketing research firm, The Nielsen Company, in Cincinnati last summer and has accepted a job offer with them following her graduation in May.
People may assume that part of the transition in attending a school in the United States for foreign players is missing the traditional foods of their native countries. Not Vickie. As she confides, "My mom was a terrible cook! I actually can't wait to come back to campus for Miami's meals!" While she misses her family and friends in Mexico, Vickie believes that her experiences with her teammates and the opportunity to obtain her degree at Miami University have been worth it.
This season, Vickie has earned a record of 4-1 at No. 6 singles and is 1-2 at No. 3 doubles.
With three regular-season matches remaining, all home matches for the RedHawks, the women's tennis team is currently tied for first place in the Mid-American Conference with a 5-0 record. The MAC Tournament will be held April 24-25 in Buffalo, N.Y.
