OXFORD, Ohio--After a successful weekend in Richmond, Ky., where it earned a pair of wins against East Tennessee State and host Eastern Kentucky, Miami University's women's tennis team returns home for a 5 p.m. match on Sunday, Feb. 17 against local foe Xavier at the Riverside Racquet Club in Hamilton, Ohio.
Miami carries a 5-1 record into this weekend's match and has won five straight matches. The RedHawks swept EKU 7-0 last Saturday, marking the RedHawks' fourth 7-0 win of the season.
Freshman Anastasia Dracheva brings a 6-0 dual record at No. 1 singles into the weekend, while sophomore Brintney Larson and freshman Cara Wald each own 5-1 dual records. Larson's has played at No. 2 singles in every match, while Wald has a 1-0 mark at No. 5 singles and a 4-1 record at No. 6 singles.
Xavier is coming off a 5-2 midweek win against Butler in its first home match of the season to up its record to 7-2. Sophomore Jill Ducro, who played at No. 5 singles against the Bulldogs, enters the weekend with a perfect 8-0 mark in dual match action.
Last season, the teams met in Oxford but play was suspended in the midst of singles play due to inclement weather and the remainder of the match was never finished. In the last completed meeting between the teams, Xavier edged Miami 4-3 in 2006. Miami owns a 6-2 lead in the all-time series, which began in 1992-93.
